MTS to offer free movies to data, smartphone customers
MTS is jumping on the OTT bandwagon by offering a catalog of short films and encouraging further content creation by subscribers. MTS is hoping this move will help push their data plan take up and push non-voice revenue contributions. It is not clear from these reports in data will be counted towards customer’s data pricing plan or zero-rated. Once again, while this looks to be some sort of revenue sharing deal, no details are available and no one could be reached for comment.
- MTS India has partnered with Shotz7 to bring to its customers a gallery of more than 800 exclusive short films with a new movie also releasing every Friday. Currently MTS Movies showcases films in Hindi and English, however going forward, the Company plans to bring short films in Tamil, Kannada, Bangla and Gujarati as well.
