In-Flight Data Plans Taking Off – but expectations may be low

Singapore Airlines In-flight Wifi

  • Singapore Airlines connects you at 40,000 feet with their inflight wifi 2014 Aug 20_2provider is OnAir, and Singapore is apparently progressively installing wifi throughout their Airbus A380 and Boeing 777-300ER fleet.
  • They have two wifi options ;5MB of internet access for $5.99; 10MB of internet access for $9.99
  • Each additional 100KB of data over plan limit costs $0.15USD
  • Lufthansa’s FlyNet, will let buy a 24 hour pass with unlimited data for a reasonable cost (usually around 20EUR). While the wifi isn’t high speed, it’s good enough for emails, social media, etc.
PDP – It seems from this blog that in-flight data may be an expensive and not altogether enjoyable experience.  I guess it depends on how desperate you are for connectivity.
